About Designer

Like many young boys, Rolf Helbig carried a pocket knife. In 1977 when he started his first job, helping his father in the kitchen, his chef knife was the most important tool. At that time knife steels were changing, and by doing a little research, Rolf found metallurgy to be a very interesting field, and he learned a knife is not just a knife.
He came up with the designs for the Foosa and the Weasel because he wanted to return to a time when the knife was a simple, common sense cutting tool.

About Design

Rolf came up with the designs for the Foosa and the Weasel because he wanted to return to a time when the knife was a simple, common sense cutting tool.
The Foosa features a more modern handle design paired with a classic blade type, maintaining a discreet, ergonomic, and exceptionally functional profile. Designed by Rolf Helbig, it is a sleek and stylish product with a non-locking sliding joint mechanism. The Damascus blade ensures reliable cutting performance in both outdoor and urban environments. The ball-bearing system contributes to a smooth opening action.

The Damascus steel we use is a premium composite of 9Cr and 440C stainless steels, distinguishing it from lower-quality options. This is genuine, layered stainless Damascus—not simply etched or patterned imitations seen in cheaper knives. Unlike traditional high-carbon Damascus, which is prone to rust, this stainless Damascus combines exceptional durability with corrosion resistance, making it ideal for lasting use. Comparable to high-end stainless Damascus like Damasteel, our steel surpasses carbon-based Damascus commonly used in brands like Kershaw in both quality and performance.
